Do I need narrowboat insurance?
Although boat insurance is not a legal requirement in the UK, evidence of third-party insurance is compulsory at most marinas, harbours and in recognised mooring / launching areas.

Can my narrowboat insurance be in joint names?
Yes, anyone who has a financial interest in the boat can be named on the policy
Can I insure my narrowboat if I live in it?
Yes – we have specialist insurance policies available, designed exclusively for people who wish to live aboard their narrowboat.
Can I insure my solar panels under the narrowboat insurance policy?
Yes – we can provide cover for solar panels that are permanently fitted and owned by yourself.
Can my contents be covered on the narrowboat insurance policy?
Yes – we can provide cover for your personal possessions that are permanently kept on the boat.
Will you cover me for using my craft on tidal stretches?
We understand that in navigating the canal system you may occasionally have to cross a tidal stretch. Providing this is the most direct route and is used for entering and exiting the canal system, then tidal stretches will automatically be covered.
Do I need a survey to get narrowboat insurance?
Our survey requirements vary dependent on boat type. If you would like to check if we would need a survey for your craft, speak to one of our advisors who would be happy to let you know.
Can I get cover for my boating equipment as well as my narrowboat?
Our policies are tailor made to your requirements, therefore if you have any equipment you would like covered, this can be added onto your cover for you.
My narrowboat is moored overseas permanently, can you cover this?
Yes. As long as you are a UK citizen and your craft is registered in the UK, we can cover worldwide mooring locations.
Do you offer any benefits if I belong to a club or association??
We offer discounts for selected clubs, classes and associations. To see if yours qualifies, give us a call.
Do you offer any benefits if I keep my narrowboat in a marina?
Craft kept ashore or afloat at a permanent marina will get marina benefits automatically included within their policy cover.
